Dr. Ajamu C. Loving serves as Director of Academic Partnerships and Assistant Professor of Financial Planning at The American College of Financial Services. His responsibilities include creating and coordinating relationships between The College and other colleges and universities to increase the availability of financial services education in academia.
Prior to his appointment at The College, Dr. Loving was Assistant Professor of Finance at Texas A&M University-Commerce. He served as Chairman of the Learning and Teaching Committee and was responsible for coordinating the business program academic assessment for the University and College of Business. He also redesigned the assessment process for the College of Business to successfully retain accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Dr. Loving taught courses in personal finance, investments, derivatives, and corporate finance, and served as the departmental undergraduate advisor for students. He has published articles in The Review of Black Political Economy, The Journal of Housing and the Built Environment, and GSTF Journal on Business Review. His research focuses primarily on wealth building in minority populations.
Before joining academia, Dr. Loving was a financial consultant at LaSalle Bank (now Bank of America) in Chicago. He worked in a bank branch providing investment and insurance advice to bank clientele, and led seminars for the community and surrounding businesses.
Dr. Loving earned a Bachelor of Arts from Morehouse College where he majored in economics, minored in mathematics, and graduated cum laude. He then went on to earn a PhD in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University where he was an AT&T Chancellor’s fellow.
